Your BMI, in a second.
Body mass index is weight in kilograms divided by height in metres, squared. This uses the Indian consensus bands (2009), which start “overweight” at 23 rather than WHO’s 25, because the same BMI carries more risk for Asian Indians.
BMI 24.2 · Overweight
BMI cannot tell muscle from fat. A strong lifter can read “overweight” at low body fat. Use it as a rough first look, not a diagnosis. Nothing you type here leaves your browser.
How to read the result
For example, 70 kg at 1.75 m gives 70 ÷ (1.75 × 1.75) = 22.9. The calculator shows a screening band, not a diagnosis. The 2009 Asian Indian consensus uses 23 as the overweight threshold and 25 as the obesity threshold. These differ from the general WHO bands.
Body composition, pregnancy, age and medical history can change what a BMI means. Adult bands should not be used to assess a child. If a result worries you, discuss it with a qualified clinician rather than changing food or training from this number alone.
